I am a Midlands based musician, youth worker, and African percussionist, I enjoy working with young people and am experienced in working with challenging behaviours and special needs.
Using the African djembe drums and percussion to create harmony, fun and relaxation and education, wherever the drums may go whether locally or nationally. I’ve been running Kalillo Drumming for around 9 years doing workshops and after school clubs and jam sessions.
I’ve delivered African drumming workshops for around 18 years in schools, at community events and at public gatherings. I work self employed and have worked as drum facilitator for a local authority for the last 6 years. Working freelance has enabled me to have worked with groups including the Salvation Army, guides and scouts, police and local authorities. I also offer workshops and performances as part of national celebrations and have recently worked with groups for black history month, Jamaica independence and the Olympics torch celebrations.
Dear Calvert, thank you I enjoyed everything it made me feel relaxed and peaceful. I learnt that drumming can cure people when they hear the sound and it’s made out of goats skin. I would love to do it again. We were learning about South Africa and now I know about West Africa. From Brooke YR4
