Overview

Sylvan Skills make willow art and living willow structures in school grounds with the pupils. Structures include Domes and Tunnels, Arbours, and Arches. We also teach hurdle making, wigwam making, willow decorations such as stars and fishes, Xmas rings, and also simple basketry.

Sylvan Skills work with all ages of children, suiting the activity to the ability level. We work with children of all ages and are more than happy to work with the parents and grandparents as well.
We usually work with small groups and then swap them over so several classes get a chance to take part, starting with the youngest pupils as it tends to get more complicated as the day goes on.

Testimonials

Hi Ruth, Thank you so much for the willow tunnel and screen, they are fantastic! I took the children straight from school yesterday as I couldn’t wait to see them. We had a lovely time, the children had great fun running up and down the tunnel and they love the fish and stars. I’m so pleased that I used my grant to enhance my outdoor facilities for the children, so many of my colleges spent their grants on toys, I feel I’ve done something much better as we can have years of fun and learning in our allotment. Can I get in touch with you in the spring to order some plant supports etc? Thanks once again for your lovely work.
Dawn G.

Hi Ruth, Thanks for the photos. The children love playing in the den (and not just the Nursery children!)
Pam
