This interactive workshop not only introduces children to the fascinating world of the Ancient Egyptians through the eyes of an Egyptologist, but also takes them on a journey through the mysteries of mummification and the Book of the Dead. This full day workshop will really bring this topic alive for your students.
In the morning, Egyptian life and culture is explored through a range of educational activities, including Ancient Egyptian games, Maths and high quality genuine and reproduction artefacts with Mark the Egyptologist.
For the afternoon session, Mark transforms into Imhophet, the high priest, to re-enact the death of a Pharaoh, showing the mummification process and burial rituals, followed by the crowning of the new Pharaoh. Imhotep leads the complex mummification and wrapping process with the children’s help, ending with the burial in a magnificent full size sarcophagus.
The magic of the Ancient Egyptians, which has fascinated and captured the imagination for hundreds of years, is brought to your school.
Up to 90 children can take part in this workshop and the full rundown can be requested from our website.
